Ballet Program Guide Lines:
Ballet is a beautiful art form that has been around for hundreds of years. When danced correctly, it is graceful, elegant, and amazing. The style demands extreme movements from the body while making them look effortless. Ballet is a style of dance, which takes years of training to develop the correct technique and strength to be able to perform the many beautiful movements of the style. These guidelines are designed to help insure the student's safety and longevity of their dancing years.
Guidelines for Studio S Dance Co:
- Student must be at least 8 years of age.
- Student is required to wear a leotard and tights no exceptions. Any color of leotard and tights are ok. Shorts or a dance skirt may be worn as long as they are above the knee. Legwarmers may be worn in cold weather for bar work only. All sweaters must be removed as soon into the bar work as possible.
- Split sole ballet shoes are required in either leather or canvas. Canvas is preferred.
- Hair must be up off the neck, and must be secured in a way that will not hit the student in the face while performing turns. Hair must be secured well enough so the student is not messing with it during class.
- Students need to show up early for class to stretch and warm up before class begins.
- Students will be expected to stretch at home on non dance days. Stretching once or twice a week is not enough to gain the flexibility needed.
- Regular class attendance expected.
- There is not a requirement for the number of classes to be attended per week, but at least 2 classes per week are recommended to gain the muscular strength needed and memory of the movements.
